A
nonprofit organization created to promote & protect natural areas
in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. Boulder Canyon is a natural area this
organizations has worked to protect. The Vestavia Hills Parks and
Recreation Board passed a resolution to support this natural park.
It is now part of the Vestavia Hills Park System. KVG has worked
with Eagle Scouts to create and build a trail system. Boulder Canyon
has an outdoor classroom, a picturesque creek with huge boulders
and offers wonderful educational and recreational opportunities.
RECREATION
A place for families. A place for kids. A place for hiking and outdoor
activities. All possible as long as the property remains natural. All
reasons why the Park and Recreation Board agreed to preserve Boulder
Canyon. An agreement that officially recognized the property as a Vestavia
Hills’ city park.
EDUCATION
A natural classroom
adjacent to Vestavia Mills Central Elementary School. A valuable educational
tool that enables teachers to provide the kind of hands-on learning
experience that inspires young minds. An invaluable outdoor classroom
that has supported Central’s science curriculum for 10 years.
It provides opportunities for students to observe Alabama’s natural
habitat in a pristine setting while studying the neighborhood ecosystem.
ECONOMICS
A green space within our suburban environment.
In many cities, property values increase when a community has good schools,
as well as natural areas and scenic greenways.
CONSERVATION
A mission to preserve the precious natural resources of Vestavia Hills
saving the Boulder Canyon Nature Trail will positively impact the community
in a multitude of ways. Some of which include watershed protection maintain
flood control protect trees improve air quality preserve the plant and
animal habitats.
PHILANTHROPY
A variety of civic and
service organizations have provided KVG with invaluable support and
assistance—generosity that will continue to enrich the lives the
children of Vestavia Hills for generations. These groups include The
Boy Scouts The Girl Scouts Rotary International The Board of Education
